Hi Everyone, my name is Tali and I am a junior transfer student from Moorpark College. I am a Philosophy major with a minor in Political Science and plan on going to law school after I graduate next June.
I believe each and every one of us has an artist inside of us. Reading the book "The Artists Way" made me realize how artistic I really am and I am still exploring my passion. I am interested and would like to discuss movies and stand up comedy, as well as music, fashion, and culinary arts. But my new obsession is photography. I am trying to figure out how photography relates to mimesis and how what I photograph is imitating something else. I would like to believe my work is original, but I guess nothing in our world is because every idea in our heads was planted there by something else. Anyways, I just bought a professional camera two weeks ago and have been trying to figure out how to use it to capture precious moments in time. I feel as though photos are the best way to remember the past. This last week I went to Disneyland with my fiance because his little nieces were in town visiting from Washington State. I decided to bring my camera along and take some photos of Sydney, who is going to be the flower girl at our wedding. As I was photographing her running around blowing bubbles with the bubble blower machine, I envisioned myself as a child. She reminds me so much of how I used to be. I was focusing on her natural beauty and her vivid personality and trying to make it come alive in my photos. I am not sure if this is the right way to perceive mimesis of photography but I can't think of any other way to incorporate the two. Please let me know if you have any thoughts :)
Thanks for reading! Have a great weekend!
